Words-of-Mine

No matter what the day brings, deep down I know it really is a good day because I have the man of my dreams, a kitty who loves me, a roof over my head and I live in paradise.

Tuesday

Last night during dinner, Michael and I spoke about how we wish we had an avocado. Well, would you believe it, in today's provisions from the food bank, we received an avocado.

Mmmm, I love avocados. I can eat them just the way they are by scooping out the pulp with a spoon after I have salted and peppered them. I love them in burritos, and I love them in guacamole.

Yes, avocados are one of my all time favorite foods.

Today is tax day. There have been a lot of articles in the news about people who wait until the last minute to get their taxes done. The word to the wise was to file an extension, pay your taxes due, and then file the appropriate forms on or before October 15.

Thank heavens, our taxes are pretty basic. The only thing that can put a snarl in the preparation is I have a Roth IRA, two regular IRAs, and I have a mutual fund. Depending on what has happened during the year, I've either made a little money or I've lost some money. I really took a big hit in 2008 and my returns are slowly making a come back but not by very much.

Basically, we could get by without filing a tax return except for the capitol gains, though small, are reported to the IRS. If we didn't file a report, the IRS would come knocking on our door wanting to do an audit. Personally speaking, I have no desire to have a visit from the IRS.

Our taxes were done last month and it's a relief to not have to think about them today.

Today has been sunny with a breeze. The breeze hasn't been so much as to move the wind chimes but it feels good coming in through the slider door. Right now I can hear the cooing of a morning dove and the sound is calming.

Not much happening today. So I shall close now. Happy Tuesday.
