Musings About Writing and Stories About Life

She's like the girl in the movie when the Spitfire falls
Like the girl in the picture that he couldn't afford
She's like the girl with the smile in the hospital ward
Like the girl in the novel in the wind on the moors

Ken’s plane was actually a little early getting in, huzzah! We began our assignation with much smooching at the gate. Then we wandered off to the other terminal, found our gate, and had dinner at Wolfgang Puck’s. (Their four-cheese pizza includes goat cheese and pesto—yum!) We tried to find a place to plug in my laptop to charge it, but the two plugs we found near the gate were dead. By that time, we didn’t have enough time to go to the Red Carpet Club. O’Hare is now down on my list of airports, and I may write them a letter. I didn’t have trouble finding a plug in Portland, and as we walked through Boston Logan later, I saw lots of plugs.

Our plane was delayed by at least an hour leaving, so we got in pretty late. Then we had to take the shuttle to Thrifty to get a car. Although we had a reservation, all the cars were gone, so we have a bright blue minivan/SUV. Oh, just what two people and minimal luggage needs. We didn’t get to the hotel and into bed until nearly 2 a.m., and then, dammit, neither of us could sleep! Ken’s tooth was hurting, and I guess I was having a sugar rush from the cookie I ate (I was hungry-ish, and there was no other food). So we slept later than we should. Ken’s showering right now, then we’re going to grab bkfst and he’ll go off to work. Given the time, I’ve told him he doesn’t need to come back for lunch; there are restaurants two miles away, and I’ll get my exercise walking to ‘em.

Well, drat and blast! Dial-in’s not set up properly on this computer, so I can’t access e-mail or the internet. And to think I answered all sorts of e-mail on the plane, too. Grrrr. Oh well. Guess I’ll get a lot of writing done today!

Actually, I came up with an alternate way to present the ideas in the bookstore story, so I’m sort of excited to work on that.

Ugh. I’m being a slug today. I’ve been reading the newspaper, watching TV. I took a shower, though, and maybe I’m ready to face this stuff…

I made the dial-in work! I don’t know how, but I did. See Dayle waste time online. Oops.

Great, it’s 4:30 and _now_ I’m hungry? Grr, argh. I hope Ken comes back soon.
