Musings About Writing and Stories About Life

She's like the girl in the movie when the Spitfire falls
Like the girl in the picture that he couldn't afford
She's like the girl with the smile in the hospital ward
Like the girl in the novel in the wind on the moors

It looks as though Eostre has a small infection in her lower lip. Cats’ lower lips are pretty much nonexistent, and hers is a bit swollen. Looks like there’s a small scratch on her chin that’s probably the culprit. She has an appt. in a few hours.

I gave Ken his wakeup call, then stumbled, shivering (early morning, wrested from beneath warm covers, and the ceiling fan was on), back to bed. Despite best intentions to just stay up and have an early day. Dozed for a bit and am having a normal-timed day.

Dammit. I hunched over a bunch of hand-sewing (the sleeves, neckline, and hem of the tunic I made last week), and now my shoulder aches. Stupid, stupid.

I’m about 10 or so pages behind on the Sage journal, which isn’t bad, really. I also got a few other projects and e-mails taken care of. Must tackle the Drafts folder tomorrow. Now, to write.

Oh, BTW, $89 later and Eostre has a common allergic reaction, and is on meds. She bit me while at the vet’s (not nearly hard enough to break skin, but still). Festive.

So, do ya’ll read the comments after you’ve commented? ‘Cause sometimes I answer, and I can’t tell whether or not ya’ll have gone back to read what I said. (“Ya’ll” being the person I specifically replied to, in most cases.)

So, what does “props” mean? I’ve been seeing it more and more in other people’s journals. It seems to mean “kudos” or “thanks” or “acknowledgements”, but I’m curious as to what it’s short for. (I could make all sorts of weird suggestions, but I won’t, so you’re spared.)

Relatively pitiful amount of writing tonight. I’m in a “everything I write sucks” kind of mood. It’ll be gone tomorrow. Goal is to finish Chapter 8 tomorrow, among other things.

Journalscape gives me the option of calling today “June 31”. Ooh, tempting!
