Musings About Writing and Stories About Life

She's like the girl in the movie when the Spitfire falls
Like the girl in the picture that he couldn't afford
She's like the girl with the smile in the hospital ward
Like the girl in the novel in the wind on the moors

Beautiful voices

Copy edited in the a.m.—didn’t finish the project, but it’s okay if I get it done by Sunday night. I’ll have to work on it tomorrow and not leave it all ‘til Sunday. Then we went to Ceridwen and Rowen’s and helped Ceridwen sew garb to sell at Pennsic. We cut out lots and lots of Viking aprons, and I serged around the edges of most of them. After Rowen came home, we all went out to supper, and then Ken and I came home.

We actually both like a new band! There have been so few current bands (as in, not classic rock bands that still produce music) that we like, much less that we both like. (I have a wide range of musical tastes—from hard rock to Brit pop to classical to showtunes—but whatever it is, it has to be done well. Ken is sometimes happy with hard rock bands whose lead singers can’t sing, which I can’t abide by.) Anyway, Evanesence. Wonderful talented but hard guitars, and a female lead singer with a gorgeous voice. (I’m a sucker for female singers who can belt: Loreena McKennitt, Grace Slick, Ann Wilson, Annie Lennox.) You may have heard their single “Bring Me to Life”. Don’t be fooled by the rap background; he was a guest musician on that song. Whole album kicks some serious ass.

Damn. My left wrist hurts, I think from all the serging I did. But my goal tonight was to clean out the In Box. Damn damn damn.

Ah well. Managed to get a decent amount of e-mail done. Watched a season 4 ep of “Buffy” that we hadn’t seen, with Faith, as a lead-in to the season 1 eps of “Angel” that feature her. (We have a second “Buffy” ep to watch first, too.)
