What a week. I swear I did a year of work this week. Tuesday, I left home at 5:30 am and drove 250 miles to the coast of New Joisey to do what is called a "radio survey". They have 2 200 ft water tanks. Well, when I got there with my assistant we climbed a ladder straight up to the very top of the water tank to install an antenna. Then we attached a cable to it and ran it back to the ground. We hooked it to a radio and powered it up. At that point we had to go to 8 other locations all over the county, put up a 50 ft. mast with an antenna and hook up a second radio to see how well the to radios can talk to eack other. We get to the first site and the radios cant "hear" each other. So back to the tank. Back up we go. Replace the cable. back to the second site. no go. back to the tank. Up we go. This went on all day. At 6 pm we called it a day and went to the hotel. The next morning at 7 we start again. By 9 we figure out we have a bad radio. So I call the shop and they send out a new one. So we wait 2.5 hours for it to arrive. Back up the tank to install it. We go to the first site and get the "shot". By then it is 6 pm and we call it a day. Day 3. We do 7 more sites. Then back up the tank to take everything down. Now to the second tank and climb and install antenna. Now do the same 8 locations again to this tank. We finish at 6:30 and get everything packed up. 9 tank climbs in all. Drove 250 miles home after being gone for 3 days. Got home at 8 pm. Got up this morning and back to the Joisy shore to do work for another customer. Got home at 6:30. 800 miles driving in 4 days. anyone want my job? ;)
