Greg and I went to see “Super Size Me” on Saturday. Wow. Despite the fact that we’ve probably eaten at McDonald’s less than five times in the past five years, I still felt really gross while watching the movie. In fact, after the movie, Greg and I went to the adjacent mall and walked around a few times for exercise. (Why didn’t we go outside and walk? Um, click here for the local forecast.) If you haven’t seen the movie yet, I recommend it - it’s really well done, very funny, and makes me quite happy about my good liver function test results.

To continue with our anti-establishment tendencies, we also saw “Fahrenheit 9/11” on Sunday. Whoa, that’s an intense movie. Not that I didn’t already loathe this Administration, but this movie actually made me even angrier. I must say that I appreciated Moore’s treatment of the actual attacks themselves – he showed more restraint than I expected after four years of sensationalist network television. I’m not certain that Moore depicted anything in the film that I didn’t already know after scouring the Web for details about some of this Administration’s activities, but he certainly expressed his view quite well. I was rather amazed to see how full the theater was on a Sunday night. It was close to sold out. And I was heartened to see the young frat boys around me brought to tears towards the end. I got the feeling that people weren’t just watching the movie, but that they were truly listening. Good, I say.
