I guess I'm writing this mainly because I am a veteran, but also because it involved a political party that I'm closely affiliated with...

I just read an interesting article on Salon about how a lot of Vietnam veterans are stepping up to the plate, and volunteering for Kerry. Most who have stepped up to volunteer have not been asked, they've just come forward because FINALLY there is someone like them running for a high political office.

The article also talked about how much of a headache these Vietnam veterans are going to be to the Bush team and other members of the Republican party who resisted military service with deferments and other tactics. Not like the Democrats are absolutely in the clear either, but it really says something that for once, the Democratic front runner is someone with an *actual* record of military service and with documented acts of bravery in the line of duty.

The article also talked about how under the Bush administration, veterans benefits have been cut to a near all time low. I'm basing that statement on the article, and don't have any documented proof to display at this time. But that will be just one more headache that the Bush Administration is going to have to deal with this election year.

How much of a headache is a Vietnam veteran with an army of Vietnam veteran volunteers going to be to the Bush Administration's Chicken Hawks? Time will tell indeed.

matt out
