Wondering where the heck time goes...

Howdy! Just thought I'd drop a quick line to let you know what's up. For whatever reason (maybe it was the Diet Coke I had at dinnertime, or the 3-hour nap I took after getting back home this morning), I can't seem to get to sleep tonight. It's 12:30 a.m. and I'll be getting up in 2 and a half hours(!), and I don't really feel all that tired. Weird.

I was hoping to buzz through all of my previous chapters in the Wannoshay novel this weekend, but I came up 4 chapters short. I can never seem to estimate the time it takes to work on a novel or story.

In any case, I feel really good about this section I'm working on now. Things are really starting to flow, and lots of weird, wild stuff's going on. Stuff like Ally getting a vision from her friend Brando about the Late Ones, and a tussle with the soldiers of the labor camp.

Speaking of Ally, I got a really nice review of my Strange Horizons story, "Wantaviewer" from Tangent Online. The reviewer really seemed to have "gotten it," which is always nice. Note -- you're officially not supposed to be able to see the text of the review if you're not a member of Tangent (memberships are dirt-cheap, like $2 a year), but I'm sharing this one with ya, since I like ya. Just don't tell...

The weekend was nice. Did some birthday stuff with our nephew, and had Indian food with Holly and Val (just about bust a gut there!), and watched "How To Make An American Quilt" with Lizzie, earning me major husband points as I sat through this out-and-out chick flick without once ever criticizing it or cracking jokes. It's actually a good movie, with some nice touches and a plot that holds together well. But still a chick flick. :)

And now I believe I'll try and get some sleep. Later!

Today's Quote:
"Blur?" the first asked. Her shaking was the worst.

"All of us, Blur," another said, a younger male. He pushed the female and she swung at him. Soon all three were fighting, and Ally had to pull Brando away from the ruckus. His grip on her arm was weak.

They made it to the entrance before the door burst open. The big soldier from the gate ran inside, holding up the small device he'd been wearing on his belt. Without seeing Ally and Brando, he pointed his clip-on at the first of the three aliens, and all three bolted toward the outside. The first alien went down like a small tree as the soldier clicked the device at him.
