When I wake up yeah I know I'm gonna be

Well, who would've thought it, but the Proclaimers are BACK. Yeah, those two tall blonde twins from Scotland who sang that classic song "I'm Gonna Be (500 Miles)" from the summer of '93 (I probably heard that song twice a day on my drive to and from Wayne, Nebraska, from the miniscule town where I was living in at the time, Bancroft -- I was on summer break and attending a couple classes while teaching junior high English).

I've heard their remake of "Five O'Clock World" a couple times on Radioio now -- "But it's a five o'clock world when the whistle blows/No one owns a piece of my time/And there's a five o'clock me inside my clothes/Thinkin' that the world looks fine, yeah" -- and I wondered who the hell that was. Their Scottish accent was pretty distinct. So when I checked the listings I saw it was The Proclaimers. And I was like "Where have I heard THAT name before?"

A quick Google search and I confirmed my curiosity. And the weird, weird thing is this -- at the gym this morning, they played this one-hit wonder's song "I'm Gonna Be (500 Miles)." I swear, sometimes all this synchronicity in my life freaks me out. (Of course I can't think of more examples right now, but it does happen, trust me!)

I find it strangely heartening that these goofy one-hit wonders can stick around like this. And I kinda like their new tune, even if it is a remake... The name of their record company is Persevere.

And now that I've read some of The Proclaimers' story, I'm kind of warming to the guys... "It was the beginning of a phenomenon." Heh.

And yeah, just like The Proclaimers, I'm back, too. I missed journaling! Da la la (da la la)...
