After helping my almost 3 year old niece out of her bathing suit on Saturday I asked her if she wanted to get dressed or did she want to run around naked. "Run around naked!" And then, she ran in circles around the living room.

Son was consoling his friend this afternoon because friend's mother had snapped at him. (A horse had colic at the barn and she was helping keep the horse up and walking) "Dude, Don't take it personally. She is just stressed out, look how red her face is. Just stay out of her way and later tonight give her a hug."

Miss Teen was having a mini melt down about teachers wanting her to be in two different places (actually cities) at the same time. She was really struggling about how to rectify the situation. So this morning I emailed both teachers to help calm things down and I sent copies of the emails to Miss Teen. (This is not my normal parenting style. I encourage them to work out teacher troubles on their own, but she was really flustered.) This afternoon, the first thing she said to me was "thanks for sending those emails mom, they really helped." Ahhhh.

One of my autistic patients told me "all gone" after I looked in his throat. He. Never. Talks. Then, when he needed a shot I made him look at me and I explained what was going to happen as if he can completely understand. He didn't kick at all when he got the shot. This from a kid who has gotten both my nurses and me in the ribs at one time or another. And that is why I love my job.

My friend with cancer has finished her chemo and radiation. After feeling like hell all weekend as her counts dropped, this evening she had some color back in her cheeks. Praise the Lord. She has anal cancer and it feels really weird to pray for her to stay continent so that she won't have to get a colostomy. "Dear Lord, Please let Susan keep her shit where it belongs."

The wisteria is in bloom. Overnight, places that were only green weedy vines on the side of the road are now soft lavender cascading blooms.

LSU women just beat U.Conn.

Husband is playing in the band for the upcoming Slidell Little Theatre production of Cabaret. They are not dressing the band in drag. He is relieved. So is Miss Teen.

My sister sent me an edible bouquet today. It was full of chocolate covered oranges, strawberries and other fruits arranged in a bouquet. Yum. Then she called and told me to make another massage appointment and not to worry it is already paid for. And to think that when I was a kid I hated having a younger sister. Thanks sis.

People I love are getting healthier, nature I love is showing her stuff, teams I love are winning, the kids are acting more mature, and chocolate covered oranges......a much better day.
