Have spent 2 more late evenings chatting with Bob by the fire in the back yard. Aside from the enjoyment of the conversation, the whole thing is soooo very relaxing. I just wanna pour myself into bed afterwards.

We had another round of cold feet and "OMG! Are we nutz?" but came back to the same conclusion. (no, we know we ARE nutz) We still think the move is the right decision.

We've picked a city... Columbia, MO and at this point (barring other information) we'll take the truck-n-trailer route. Now, we're back to the waiting again. *sighs* But that feeling of excitement it back (a little bit) now that we've rehashed and (at least for now) made decisions on where and how.

At one point yesterday I was thinking maybe we should still make a stop in Tulsa, OK. But, after taking a close look at the homeschooling lists for Tulsa and Columbia, the Columbia group is waaay more organized (IOW, has done more over the summer) and the area in general has more learning oppportunities.

If we can score a house between Columbia and Jeff City, it will give Bob more work opportunities too. He's been applying for jobs in those areas already.

I'm mentally trying to come up with a list of things I can do to bring in money. Things I can do on off hours and between things. One site (homesteading.org I think) had 3 articles on how others had done similar. One lady ended up with a home based goats milk soap business. Another created an eBay used bookshop and a (oh can't think of the words) business strategy she acronymed BESS. Basically what our grandma's would have called "Butter and Eggs money." Which is basically what I'm looking to do.

Now my grand scheme is to start an apiary and if it goes well, sell the honey, wax and propolis. However, that is a long way off... like several years. Other grand schemes include vermiculture (selling castings and worms), chickens or ducks (eggs), etc. But again, those things I won't even be able to begin for several years.

In the near future, I could still do some web development, I think. (if I can find small freelance work and If we have a good connection) The used books might be a possibility. Goodness knows I've got several I don't want anymore. But access to a mailing center and thrift stores would be crucial as would the time to peruse. (the time being the hard part)
