And the great tail flailer did it again! I wasn't watching quite closely enough.

FINALLY made time to get my claws clipped this afternoon. I don't think I've ever seen the salon as crowded as it was today. Then I realized that Sunday is Mothers' Day.

The woman who has taken care of me in the past snagged me today also. She knows that my polish preference is a color that doesn't look like polish. I'm sure she also remembers that I don't want change from a twenty and a ten that I give her for a $25 job.

And once that was done I picked up (and bought) some other stuff, especially in the critter food line.

I have a strong feeling that last night a couple of the non-feline, mask-wearing species in the neighborhood came into the kitchen and polished off every iota of cat food left in the dishes. Not a crumb remained. The cats find those last few nibbles take more effort than they care to expend. On the other hand, the mask-wearers are noted for their general cleanliness and leave the dishes spotless.

On the oil spill front--a llama farmer (rancher?) in Texas is shearing all his llamas and donating the fur to the oil spill clean-up. They put it in the boom tubes and the oil droplets cling to it.

One thing about living in an "interesting" area at this particular phase of communications--I am sure picking up all sorts of interesting tidibits--such as the use of hair for oil spill cleanup.

The giant "box" that is meant to contain/control the leakage has been lowered. No word yet on its efficacy.

Late this morning while I was outside reading the paper my trash guy came by for his semi-annual payment. We chatted a bit and I pointed out my neighbor's dead tree. He looked at it and opined that it seemed pretty strong--even without bark--and I probably shouldn't be too concerned.

He knows a lot about stuff like that so I'll relax a bit.

Also today I got a call from a life insurance agency. When I was 17 I bought a policy from my grandfather, who was general agent for the company. That was a LONG time ago, and the company has been sucked up by Met-Life.

After Pete passed I tried to get some stuff changed with respect to who gets the money. I've written several times but gotten no answer.

FINALLY someone took the time to call me. From the conversation I gathered that she had been with New England Mutual and was now with MetLife.

We talked for a goodly time, and (cross fingers) I think I got through to her what my problem was.

I was about to have a lawyer friend write a lawerly letter to them, explaining the situation and how Louisiana inheritance law differed from the rest of the country. Now I don't have to. (I hope.)

(Of course--only the good die young so I'll probably be around forever.)

With all that little stuff going on today I didn't get around to whatever I had hoped to do.

Oh well--there's always tomorrow.
